It is an honor to introduce my friend and colleague Dr. Tim Irwin’s latest book, Impact: Great Leadership Changes Everything.
Dr. Irwin and I have worked together on behalf of common clients and collaborated on many projects together. Tim is one of the smartest people I know and has developed keen insights into the subject of leadership through his 25 years of experience and work with leaders of global companies.
Working for more than 25 years as an organizational psychologist and management consultant, Tim has worked with thousands of leaders and well-known global companies. He knows most leaders work for recognition and advancement, and that they want more challenge and responsibility. He has also found this to be true: most of us want to make a positive difference through our work and have our lives count for something more than simply making a living. We want to make an impact.
Yet when we look around our organizations, we don’t see many leaders who have real impact. We just see them managing the daily rat race. Somewhere along the line, many begin working for the money instead of meaning, for status instead of lasting legacy.
Impact is not a “how-to manual.” Rather, Tim focuses on the core elements on what a leader is and what makes a leader effective in their day-to-day activity. The book is an entertaining read with warmth, stories and reflects Tim’s great sense of humor to make this book a worthwhile purchase for anyone regardless of their position in leadership.
