Karen is a legal assistant with The Penning Group, working from the firm's office in Suttons Bay, Michigan.
Karen is a lifelong resident of Leelanau County with more than 30 years of experience in the legal arena. Thirteen years of that experience was with the 13th Circuit Court, serving as a deputy court clerk, judicial secretary for three judges, mediation clerk, and assistant to the court administrator.
Karen’s experience in real estate consists of title examinations, mapping of legal descriptions, serving as an escrow closing officer and processor for a title company, as well as a petroleum abstractor throughout the state of Michigan. Her comprehensive real estate experience provides a unique resource to the firm and its clients.
Karen has worked with Dan Penning since 2007. Prior to that she worked with Stuart J. Hollander for seven years. Dan acquired Stuart's practice following his untimely death in 2007.
Karen was born and grew up in Leelanau County, Michigan, and has been on boards for the Suttons Bay-Bingham District Library, the Suttons Bay-Bingham Fire & Rescue, and various committees at her church and childrens' school.
Karen has been married to her husband for 27 years and they have two grown sons, one living in Montana and the other in Michigan.
